The Roosevelt is now open for a limited number of places each night as well as takeaway and delivery. We are taking group bookings in our Private Dining Room, bookings of 4 to 10 in our main restaurant as well as tables for walk ins in the main restaurant and outdoors.
Slip back in time to an era when drinking was taken seriously. Long lunches washed down with martinis, cocktail hours to finish the day and whiskies long in to the evening.
The Roosevelt calls Potts Point home but traces it’s ancestry back to New York in the 1950s, drop in for a drink or settle in and enjoy great food until late in the night. We aim to offer excellent atmosphere, great company and amazing drinks, we hope you agree!

The Roosevelt first opened 1943 near the end of World War 2, and was frequented by American service men taking out their Australian girlfriends. Come 1947 it became Abe Saffron’s first nightclub and helped him earn the title “The King of the Cross.” Abe brought the glamour and class of New York and Las Vegas to Sydney often flying in big names such as Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jnr to perform.
While The Roosevelt was the place to go and be seen, it’s creative and less than legal methods of circumventing the restrictive alcohol laws of the time eventually resulted in a Royal Commission to investigate and close down the venue.
The Roosevelt reopened in 2012, paying homage to the original Roosevelt.
From small group dining to large canapé functions the Roosevelt is available for functions and events. Our hidden Poker Room is perfect for intimate dining, whisky classes or poker nights for up to 12 guests, while our larger Monroe can host up to 32 for dining or 60 for standing events.

The bar staff at The Roosevelt are some serious whisky nerds and love nothing more than sharing that knowledge over a few drams. Whether you are looking to hone your knowledge or just up for some fun, these occasions are great to do with a group of friends or as a fun way to encourage team building amongst your staff. Communal sessions run every Saturday or contact us to host a class for 6 or more at any time subject to availability.
